Of course we mean the Ford Taurus! Big, brawny and pretty luxurious, the Taurus is easy to like and a serious contender in the family sedan segment. The Taurus was always a looker, and the new 2014 has some mild improvements over the 2013 model. The headlamps are even sleeker and thinner and a big busty curves down fast over a sharp nose giving it a sporty, muscular look. From the side, you'll notice the big doors, partly due to smaller windows making the car look bigger than it is. The rear continues with the BIG feel, with chunky LED tail lamps and dual exhaust pipes. BIG and BEEFY seems to be the keywords to this design, and we love it!! In the UAE, you're likely to get the 3.5 liter V6 engine giving a rousing 288 horsepower from 350 pounds of torque. As impressive as these numbers are, they don't add up in the real world. The Taurus is a heavy car, and nimble, it is not! You can feel the heaviness on the road, although, press hard, and you have enough power on tap. Still, a little diet would make the drive much more fun. Here's where the Taurus really scores big. Even in the base interior, the layout of cabin is designed for the driver. There is a clear separation between driver and passenger, with a large high center console. This may look like a small thing, but it definitely gives the driver a sporty coupe feel to it. The fit and finish is excellent, and even the base model has a look that suggests quality and attention to detail. You get some decent features in the base model, which is already priced a little bit higher than the competition. The Ford Taurus has the presence of a large sedan, but you won't feel it if you're assigned to ride in the back seat. While three adults can fit into the space, they won't be happy, and the limited headroom and legroom in the rear seat remain the biggest drawback to the otherwise commendable Taurus sedan. Getting in and out of the back seat is a challenge, too, with considerable ducking under the low roof needed. The Taurus has many things to enjoy, but we just feel that the high price tag dampens our enthusiasm. We love the big manly exterior, and the lush interior, but would we really pay 125,000 dirhams this? Not too sure….
