After all they thought, its Hyundai. This year, Hyundai completes what it started by offering a luxury sedan that truly rivals with the Lexus GS350, BMW 5 series and Mercedes E class, with a price tag of 180,000 dirhams.. A complete revamp on the interior features a bold long hood that will impress many as you drive through town. Its aggressive, yet elegant featuring daylight running LED's as well as LED's for the fog lamps that really light up the road at night. The Genesis winged badge, reminiscent of a Bentley sits proudly on the nose and underneath it you'll see a large wide hexagon shaped grille. From the side, you instantly notice the large doors and the delicate rims on the sporty 20 inch tires. The rear features built in dual exhausts and a tail lamp LED design that reminds us of Hyundai's smaller vehicles, but that's not a bad thing, because Hyundai has generally been designing all their cars with a lot of flourish. To be a true luxury sedan, you must have loads of power, and our 3.8 liter V6 version certainly does. It produces 315 horsepower with 397 pounds of torque mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox. You get three driving modes of Normal, Eco and Sport along with tiptronic shifting on the beautiful polished gear stick. Regardless of the mode, the car still drives strong, but if you do venture on the Sport mode, you feel the suspension stiffen and your rev counter goes all the way to the redline. Genesis has also revamped the interior and its one of the best we've seen with this price tag. Under the left aircon, are switches for the rear sunshade, electronic handbrake and lane departure activation. Moving to the steering wheel, you'll see buttons on the left for the phone and radio volume, on the right is your cruise control with intelligent settings to control the braking distance. You'll also see the menu button for the reasonably large screen on the speedometer for all your cars setting including the excellent heads up display that along with the speed, also shows you navigation turns, and lane departure warnings. The centre console is flat featuring a large 8 inch touch screen with navigation. 12 different seating positions and soft supple cream leather with black borders make the Genesis a real drivers car. All round visibility is excellent and the car seat moves backwards when you switch the car off, allowing you to get in and out easily. The air con is strong not requiring more than 3 out of its 6 bars at any given time of day. The ceiling is covered with a soft velvety fabric where the large moon roof slides open from the middle. If you're badge conscious then this is not the car for you. But if you want value with quality, the Hyundai Genesis is pretty difficult to beat considering it is nearly 40,000 dirhams less than its nearest competitor. The car is going to increase people's expectations from their cars and that's a good thing!
