Its more spacious, definitely aimed at families The fresh exterior resembles more of the Nissan family now, especially the new X Trail. Its got a very swept back design, making it look less bulky, but up close you can definitely appreciate its size. The big hood and the flared front fenders give it a brave face, yet the sleek lines remind you of its family appeal. The Pathfinder is powered by the Nissan's standard 6 cylinder 3.5 liter CVT engine, also found on the Maxima and the Altima. An output of 254 horses means that its adequately powered compared to its competition. On the road, the engine is smooth, unless you press the accelerator too hard, and then hear a slight grunt as the CVT rises to the action. The interior is less impressive in terms of design, than the exterior. Yes, you'll get a host of tech features helping with navigation and safety, but the quality of the materials seems a little bit dated, and their combination on the dash seems a little bit boring. The center console is well laid out, but perhaps with too many buttons, so you'd need a bit of practice. On the positive, a lot of the gauges are inspired from Infiniti so you do get a semi luxurious feel, at least for the top version. The front seats are comfortable, offer good back support, and the driver has a wide adjustment range. The back seat is short, flat, and somewhat van-like, as well as sitting quite low to the floor. The most impressive feature--for families, anyhow--will be that the second row can be slid and folded forward enough to permit third-row access. The third row is definitely aimed at little children.
