There's no real HOO HAA to the Jetta. Its designed in a pretty conservative manner, compared to other cars in its segment, and depending on your psyche, that's either a bonus or a point against it. The lines are sleek and understated, almost completely without drama--but finely rendered on closer look. Sure, with all the snazzy designs by the Koreans and the Japanese and the American's the Jetta can feel like a plain jane… and it is. OK, so its not getting any better here. The UAE still gets the old 2.0 engine, which only produces about 115 horsepower through its 6 speed automatic, unlike the USA where you can pay for a better performing engine. The Jetta's cabin is just as straightforward, composed of clean lines and well-organized controls with a minimum of fuss and cutlines. Whereas rivals may use various curves, angles and textures to catch your eye, the Jetta just gives you simple, straightforward gauges and a no-nonsense control layout. What the Jetta loses in finer details, though, it tries to make up for with interior space and features. The backseat is large enough for full-size adults to ride in comfort, and the 15.5-cubic-foot trunk is one of the roomiest you'll find in this class. The VW Jetta that is sold in the UAE doesn't have much going for it in terms of performance. You can spend more money on the trim, yet still get a car that lags on the road. However, it is more spacious than some of its competitors and will impress you with its overall build quality.
