It's a hot hatch with 4 doors, with aspirations to take on the likes of the GTI, Scirocco and Focus ST. After driving it for a few days, we think so too. Its got a mean little look from the front, with deep grooves on the hood that hint at it the engine beneath. The bulgy head and fog lamps are tucked away in the corners giving the nose a wide low stance. The side profile seems stretched and draws attention to the 5 spoke racing tyres. The rear still has older Volvo cues from the tail lamps to the signage and doesn't quite have the aggression of the front. Overall, its Swedish designer needs a pat on the back for a job well done. Not knowing what to expect, we were literally blown away by the Volvo's performance. The 2 liter engine produces a refined 213 horsepower with a massive 300 pounds of torque. With a balanced suspension and excellent steering, what this means is that you'll be roaring happy on the highway. It's a complete joy to drive around town. It doesn't have the exhaust of the Scirocco, but its ride is also more refined. If you go into tiptronic mode, the car blasts away, yet at all times you will feel in control. The Volvo interior features a screen on top showing audio, climate and backup camera but no satnav, even at the highest price. The controls are organized in the middle in traditional Volvo style laid out on matt silver trim. The steering is thick and great to hold and has your usual options for phone and audio. The hi tech digital speedometer has a red glow and is brilliantly designed to show you all the information you need. The drivers seat is the best place to be in, not just because of the performance, but because you feel right at home on the bucket seats. Its just the right balance between racing seats, and plush comfort. Rear legroom is cramped for most adults, so this is strictly one for the children and great for a young family. The huge tinted sunroof is a unique addition and makes the car feel airy and spacious. Its one of the most fun and exciting cars to drive and its perfect in many ways. But its very high price tag means that we may not see that many on the road. But then, crazier things have happened in Dubai!
