The tall tires, tall body and very heavy curb weight don’t make it quite heavy on the road, and you’ll feel a decent amount of body roll Dubai’s roundabouts. This is simply a vehicle that drives larger than it looks. Off road is where it shines. The high ground clearance and generous wheel articulation will make those wadi adventures a whole lot more fun, and will inspire confidence in even first time drivers. A system called A-TRAC helps reduce wheel spin and redistribute torque, and it's helpful on the road as well as off it. Exterior The FJ Cruiser has not changed its look in the past few years except for some cosmetic touch ups. But its unique retro style allows it to still remain cool amongst an army of cute and cuddly SUV’s. This is a car with a mission, and it looks like one. The round headlamps, steep windshield and retro cues make the FJ so special. For the street version, you’ll instantly notice the racing tires with the chrome alloys, clearly trying to market it more to the daily commuters than weekend warriors. It’s a pretty practical car either way with side doors that open at 90-degree angles for easy entry and exit. And, the glass hatch can be opened quickly and easily for trips to the grocery store. Comfort & Safety The FJ Cruiser will comfortably seat 4 to 5 people depending on size. Front seats in the FJ are ample for size and space but not all that supportive. The rear seats are cramped, though the rear-hinged back doors provide decent access. The ride quality is pretty harsh and you’ll need the 327 watt system to drown out all the engine and tire noise coming from the front. There’s also surprisingly little storage space for both bigger and smaller items essential for those camping trips. In this regard the Wrangler does much better. Rear visibility is pretty tough so you’ll need the rear camera and sensors. Other safety items include side curtain airbags, a roll-over sensor, anti-lock brakes, active headrests and electronic stability control.
