Dust ridden luxury cars and exotics are left to be beaten by the desert elements. What a waste! Check out these abandoned cars in Dubai pictures and if you love cars as much as we do it will surely bring a tear to your eyes. So why have all these amazing luxury and performance vehicles been abandoned? Well Dubai has attracted many rich people to come and live in their country where finance is incredibly easy to get but the downfall is if a finance payment is missed or a check bounces you can end up in prison. So many people have taken advantage of the easy finance to buy these magnificent cars and once they have decided to leave Dubai they have decided their easiest option is just to dump the vehicle and get out of the country. Dubai has reported that thousands of these machines now scatter their streets and more are found everyday. In time all these very expensive cars will simply end up on the scrap heap, what a dire shame for us car lovers who would love to have one of these incredible marques. Chances are you will never to be able to afford a supercar. Not just splash out $250,000 or so for the car, but afford to run it too. I don’t want to depress you, but it makes the following photos even more heartbreaking. They’re high-performance vehicles that have been left abandoned at Dubai airport, left by rich people who think nothing of letting a car that costs more than some people’s home, to rot. That, or they can no longer afford to pay off the car and leave it at the airport when they flee. It makes you wonder what happens to them all, where do they end up? How long are they there for? Can I have one? IT’S not your usual city problem. Forget unemployment, crime and housing issues, Dubai is suffering from a case of abandoned expensive cars. In the last five years, luxury cars including Porsches, Ferraris and Mercedes Benz have been abandoned on the streets of Dubai and left at airport parking lots as their owners flee bankruptcy, hit by the financial crisis. Under Sharia law, the failure to pay back debt is a criminal offence with offenders facing the risk of prison. The UAE has no bankruptcy laws so there is no protection should you fail to meet your car repayments, pay off your credit card or default on your mortgage. The result means that expats and locals are ditching their expensive cars to avoid jail time, often with the keys still left in the ignition. It was reported in 2011 that a $2 million rare Ferrari Enzo was even found abandoned in the airport parking lot by police. According to Gulf News, between 2000-3000 cars are abandoned every year in Dubai. A warning notice is first issued and if the owner fails to appear after 15 days the car is impounded and auctioned off for a fraction of their original price. Dubai has struggled from the effects of the global financial crises and plunging oil prices that has seen many expats leave the city unable to cope with the inflated costs of living. It’s good news for car lovers at least who can pick up some serious bargains. The United Arab Emirates is one of richest countries in the Middle East. Despite the recent financial crisis and the falling price of oil, the country's economy still remains strong. However, like any other modern country, the UAE has its fair share of problems. These problems range from the typical (poverty, high price of living) to the truly bizarre. One of the UAE's bizarre problems, specifically in the city of Dubai, is the problem of high-end luxury cars being frequently abandoned in local airports' parking lots. Why would someone abandon a perfectly good luxury car? The reason makes more sense than you would think...
