The UAE’s Ahmed Daham literally burned his way round the Meydan basement to retain his title as the Red Bull Car Park Drift champion. The Iraqi’s Nissan Silvia was rigged up with fireworks, flames from its exhaust and lights flashing from the tires. Watch him pop, crack and explode as he nails the pendulum, spins in the box and takes on the final spiral in true #CPDrift style. “We’ve not seen that much smoke all night!” exclaimed commentator and Virgin DJ Brent Black. “There’s flames and smoke coming out everywhere from this car.” Ahmed, 28, was representing Jordan when he won at Meydan last year but has since moved to the UAE and was proudly flying the Emirati flag. A UAE driver has never finished on the podium at a drifting event in the Middle East, let alone won a title. But it was heartbreak for Lebanese entrant Fadi Boustani, who was disqualified at the start line on his very last run. Four thousand fans turned out to see Ahmed smoke and screech his way through the basement pillars.
