Walking through the pearly gates of the Dubai Mall is like entering a funhouse of never ending pseudo luxury. The stores are all high end, and the prices are never discounted like they are in America. Nevertheless, it's a great place to visit in the middle of a desert heat wave - the air conditioning is second to none. Although I didn't buy much at the Dubai Mall, it provided a great opportunity to do some serious window shopping. I was in Dubai on business and had lots of down time in between meetings. I enjoyed checking out some stores that I would never go into back home. While it would take a very long time to visit each of the Dubai Mall's 1200 stores, it was nice to have the "Vogue Magazine" experience up close and personal. The Fashion Avenue section of the Dubai Mall is a who's who of fashion heavyweights. The Dubai Mall boasts that Fashion Avenue has the largest collection of fashion brands under one roof, and I believe them. I took an entire morning to just walk around the mall. I then relaxed at a café and read the newspaper with a cup of tea. Over the course of my trip, I returned to the Dubai Mall's restaurants and attractions a few more times. It was great to see familiar names such as Bloomingdale's, Debenham's, Marks & Spencer, and Galeries Lafayette. While familiar, the brands really seem to put their best foot forward in Dubai. From the Dubai Mall Aquarium to the exotic cars that seem to endlessly pull up to the valet, the Dubai Mall is truly an experience like no other. Other stores that I visited in the Dubai Mall included: Diesel, DKNY, Ed Hardy, Dirk Bikkembergs, Faconnable, Fred Perry, FIRETRAP, Christian Audigier, Burberry, Carolina Herrera, Adolfo Dominguez, 7 For All Mankind, Armani Exchange, Custo Barcelona, Jean Paul Gaultier, Massimo Dutti, Paul & Shark, Pynkiss, River Island, Scotch and Soda, Salvatore Ferragamo, Salsa Jeans, Thomas Pink, Ted Baker, True Religion, Scuderia Ferrari, Shanghai Tang, and Tru Trussardi.
