More than half of it still works.Old sinks, pots, pans, wrecked TVs, unwanted cars, washing machines, window frames, chairs and lamps are thrown away without a moment's thought. And there to collect it, just around the corner, are the scrappers.Full of incidents, insight, humour and larger-than-life personalities, the film reveals an extraordinary group of people who, through hard graft and a keen eye for an opportunity, are making money from nothing on the streets of South London.

The rag and bone stuff from back in the day was when old clothing was good for being recycled into paper. You'd think- a few clothes - not much there - a few scraps of disposable paper - what of it. But a cart might carry ,say, 500 kilos - that is half a ton of paper, maybe. The forestry industry put paid to that little caper. Then they'd also pick up the food waste bones from peoples' homes. No shit, here. Because old food bones from chicken, steaks, whatever, would be sold on to the military and companies dealing in explosives work. They'd use the bone material as types of flint for explosives. All fucked and past the board now.

The scrap yards in Britain are actually moving their stuff these days instead of it being packed up higher than the yard fences, half as high as skyscrapers. Beats me, thinking back on it, how they got the stuff way up there like that in the first place, and how they got the friggin' stuff down later without all the compacted teetering stacks coming crashing down everywhere.

I'm a woman & me & my nephew done this back in 2005 when nobody else was doing it & we made really good every week for a long time then he told a few people what we where making & everybody started doing it then we couldn't find nothing else after that.I still do it own my own some days.

you need to buy a reasonable van big enough to carry the scrap as well everyone is doing it these days ain't they. you could get a decent transit 2nd hand for £500 -
What the hell the crews are doing shooting pellet gun at steel without shirt on? Suppose they missed the rat? Pellet can ricochet. I got shot in my belly after shooting a stainless beer keg with a pellet gun. Feel like been stabbed in belly with a thick syringe. What a Briton Redneck!
