The object of this parking manoeuvre is to parallel park behind another vehicle within the space of 2 car lengths whilst looking out for other road users. You might also have to reverse park on your UK practical driving test. A lot of people fear parallel parking, but once you have some reliable reference points then it should be easier. These practical driving test tips will hopefully help. There are a lot of different reverse parking techniques. In this video we have a look at the 1-2-1 method of parking a car. But, no method is perfect and actually using your judgement is better than any method. How to do parallel parking - The 1-2-1 method is: One whole turn to the left to bring the back of the car in. Two whole turns to the right to bring the front in. One whole turn to the left to straighten the wheels. If you feel that you're getting too close to the kerb then steer more to right. Too far from the kerb then steer more to the left. Observe around continuously, stopping for any approaching road user. If all else fails then drive forward and perfect the parking. i could really do with some help on parallel parking. I live on a street where cars park on both sides of the road, when it comes to parking my car and reversing into a spot my car swings out to much, to the point i have to leave that spot and find another because the front of my car is about to hit the other cars parked on the other side of the road. I dont know where im going wrong. could anybody help me on this please?

Omg this channel is a life saver. I'm dreading my driving test. It will be my third one and I'm praying I get a three point turn. On my first test I had a parallel park and that was awful. On my second test I had a 3 point turn and that was beautiful.

so if your wing mirrors aren't lined up correctly this manoeuvre will go wrong so how do you know if your wing mirrors are lined up correctly?

This manoeuvre is literally my pet hate, praying I don't get this on my test but this video has give me a bit more confidence in case I do!

This method seems more fluid. My instructor is asking me do the first couple of steps but once got the car lined up it's full left lock and then stop, handbrake and then full right lock once close enough to kerb. I don't like doing it this way to be honest. This way is far better so I'll be speaking to my instructor about this. Don't get me wrong I can parallel park but to me this seems a lot less hassle.
