New Year's Eve celebrations in the UAE are legendary for their no-expense spared, colourful and perfectly synchronised fireworks shows. We have also included nearby places to watch these amazing shows from in case you miss the front-row views, because you can never underestimate the mind and speed of a UAE resident who is set on getting a good view of the fireworks. Burj Khalifa It's no secret that seeing the Burj Khalifa fireworks is the highlight of New Year's Eve fireworks every year. Despite the huge crowds, many residents and even tourist flock to the world's tallest building to see a fireworks display that remains unparalleled in the region and even the world. Via public transport: The Dubai Metro will run non-stop during the New Year's celebrations. But access to the Burj Khalifa, via the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station, will be closed from 10pm to 6am. So keep that in mind when you're going by public transport. Via car: Going by car will be difficult as some roads will be closed to make room for pedestrians. If you do get your car within the area, however, the other problem will be how to leave the venue after the fireworks display. Most roads going to Burj Khalifa will be closed by 6pm. Where to view: Dubai Fountain, Souq al Bahar, Burj Park, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Al Manzil Plaza The Palm Jumeirah What's interesting about Palm Jumeirah is that the fireworks light up in the shape of the Palm. This is unique. While the roads that lead inside the Palm will be closed at 6pm, revelers who opt to see the Palm fireworks can do so using public transport. Via public transport: Take the Metro goingtowards UAE Exchange Metro station. Alight at DAMAC Properties station or Jumeirah Lakes Towers. Transfer to the Dubai Tram which will take you all the way to Al Sufouh Road. From the Al Sufouh tram station, there is a footbridge leading towards the Palm Jumeirah monorail. Via car: Going by car to the Palm will be impossible unless you are a resident of the area. The roads will be closed at 6pm and will only be open to Palm residents with proper identification. Where to view: Jumeirah Beach, Kite Beach, any hotel around the Palm Burj Al Arab Burj Khalifa too crowded for you? Worry not! Burj Al Arab is next on the list of spots to see during New Year. The fun part? It's not just the Burj Al Arab that will be lit up. Other Jumeirah properties such as the Jumeirah Beach Hotel will also be setting off fireworks to ring in 2017. Via public transport: Take buses on the seaside of either Dubai Internet City or Nakheel Metro station. These buses take the Al Sufuoh Road and stop near Burj Khalifa. These are buses 88, X28 and 8. Via car: Again, cars are not advised since parking areas will be located far from the venue. Unless you want to walk, that is.
