oh driving manners like escalator manners

Only people who already know this watched the video. This law needs more enforcement.
2:48 "I didn't know the rules." Bullshit. We're told this in driving school. And there are signs on the highway to remind you, unless you don't look at those either... -
THANK YOU
-
Easy solution? FOLLOW THE SPEED LIMIT. People who speed cause more accidents. Look it up
-
and thats why highways in germany are by far the most convenient way of traveling
-
They respect the left lane in Italy, i LOVED driving there!
-
I'm impressed that you had to get pulled over to realize that it makes it easier for everybody around you, to stay on the right lane if slow.
-
Keep right except to pass is always a good thing for traffic flow! I learned this as the law in Pennsylvania when my driving instructor warned me that hanging out in the left lane would get me a ticket. Now that I live in New Mexico, I understand why it's such a good rule. People "squat" in the left lane and it backs up traffic for miles, and it creates serious road rage issues that sometimes end in tragedy. I only wish every state would issue tickets for left lane squatters.

I had to watch stopping this bullshit video when I heard the words, "It forces them to..."
NO!
The only thing that could force someone driving on a highway to make a dangerous lane change is if the person behind the wheel of the car is an idiot. -
Is this even up for discussion? Its the law that left lanes are for overtaking. If you are on the left and not overtaking, you're breaking the rule, simple as that. (At least in Europe)

If vox tells me to do something, I know it's exactly the wrong thing to do.
Suck it up liberals, I drive in the left lane at the speed limit all the time. -
I completely agree, people should NOT use the left lane on the freeway as a travel lane. And if you are passing, when you are done, move over.
However, people also need to drive WAY less aggressively here in the US. If I am in the left lane and passing cars on the right, this does not give you permission to tailgate, honk your horn or flash your lights until I can find a safe place on the right to pull over. And It does NOT give you the right as I'm pulling over to pass me so closely that you nearly clip my car, gesticulate wildly at me or try to cut me off or some other equally dangerous act because I didn't get out of your way "fast enough." Seriously, chill out, slow down and you'll get to work or wherever you're going more safely and way less aggravated. -
Yeah, go figure... people get upset when other people don't follow the rules of the road!
-
i find this video amusing cause in my country this has been the trafic law for as long as i know left lane is for passing and right lane is not. Hell we're not even aloud to pass people on the right, it's illegal :)

This is for all of my "friends" in Kansas and Oklahoma. I spent my vacation weaving in and out of cars going slowly in the left lane. From Kansas City to Fort Worth I-35 was like driving in town for 7-1/2 hours. Very frustrating and exhausting.

Oblivious drivers will likely not see this video. Also, why use the extreme dangerously stupid example of what is clearly a complete idiot at 0:36 aiming to use the shoulder to pass? Yes, yes, I agree about the left lane rule. However, there are occasions when one must drive (at an appropriate speed, yes) in the left lane in some circumstances. Sometimes roadways have poorly maintained asphalt that's bad for your vehicle maintenance. If the only good lane is the left lane, so be it, I will drive in that lane and move back over as soon as the crappy pavement clears further ahead. I'm not driving 60mph+ over pothole roadways. No worries, I don't drive slow in the left lane, nor do I stay put in the left lane if someone is approaching to pass. I follow the rules because that keeps traffic moving steady. I wish people would maintain following distance! It's the constant brake tappers I can't stand. Use of signals would be great.

Unfortunately, this would seem to enable already very irresponsible and selfish too-fast drivers at the expense of the irresponsible and selfish too-slow drivers. Wouldn't it just be better to enforce both the speed limits and speed minimums on everybody by whatever means it takes to do so? Particularly, when doing such would save lives? I'm not sure that the real traffic problems can be addressed by favoring one group over the other. It has to be dealt with in the attitudes and values of the people.
-
Wow seriously? So because fast, impatient **sholes who think their hurry is more important than everyone else's safety, therefore the people driving the speed-limit in the left lane are at fault? I'll agree that the left lane should be used for passing, but that argument is beyond idiotic. And I suppose sober people should stay home on New Years Eve because if they weren't in the way of the drunk, they wouldn't be collided into?
-
As long as they aren't going below the posted speed limit in the left lane, you can't have a legitimate complaint. The left lane isn't there for you to pass when you don't like the posted speed limit. Knowing that the left lane is expected to have police or ambulances or Fire at times, most people do try to stay out of the left lane except when traffic grid locks.
-
People should speed when they pass, not go the speed limit. Many people do this when they are in cruise control. It shouldn't take 3 minutes for you to pass a car - speed up and pass them! Then get out of the left lane!
